Our Annual Sports Day was held this year on Tuesday 13th May and we were blessed with another glorious, sunny day! Organised by Ms Murray and Mrs Mone, and the active committee. The activities were arranged in a series of stations which included soccer, gymnastics, Gaelic, uni-hoc, skipping, athletics, cheerleading, a disco and of course the traditional egg and spoon and sack races.
We are very grateful to Pat (FAI) who looked after the soccer station, Ann (Monaghan GAA) who looked after the Gaelic station, Emma (Rotate gymnastics) on the gymnastics station, Ms L McGeown on the cheerleading station and the all the teachers, volunteers and transition students who manned the rest of the stations. A big thank you goes to Conor, our DJ for the day, who provided plenty of tunes to get us moving!
The girls thoroughly enjoyed the activity-packed morning and were treated to a well-earned ice-cream or slushie treat in the afternoon!
Camogie for 5th/6th and 6th classes, rounders for 3rd and 5th class and cheerleading for 3rd/4th and 4th concluded the day. The 2nd class children enjoyed extra playtime in the sunshine. It was wonderful to have a real cheer girl Ms L Mc Geown to lead the cheer dance, and Mr O’Donoghue a county hurling player to teach the camogie.
A fabulous day was had by all. The active committee worked extremely hard and helped organise the equipment and hydration station. We couldn’t have managed without them!
