Congratulations to our marvellous debating team who beat Corcreagh N.S. on Friday 11th May to become this year’s County Monaghan Concern Primary Debating Champions. The girls faced tough competition in opposing the motion that “The voting age should be lowered to 16” as Corcreagh proved to be worthy opponents. Team members were: Georgina McKenna, (Captain on this outing), Rhiain Ronaghan,(2nd Speaker),Tammy McElwain, (3rd Speaker)Hannah Pourani, Neeharika Vivekanhadan and Aoife O’Gara.
The six girls have been unbeaten in all five of their debates and all have had the opportunity to speak at various stages of the competition. Their teamwork has been outstanding with all six helping to research the topics for every debate.
We are very grateful to Ms Deery who has coached the team to such a high standard.. It has been a wonderful experience for our girls and public speaking is a skill which will be invaluable to them throughout their lives
