Santa’s Visit
On Friday 22nd December, the morning of the Christmas Holidays, Santa paid a special visit to the school. He brought selection boxes for all the girls and even took time to have a dance with the teachers! It was a fun-filled occasion for all!
Fifth and Sixth Class Christmas Concert
Finally, we say a “Very well done” to our pupils from 5th and 6th class who put on an excellent performance for their parents on the night of December 20th. A special thank you to Mrs Mc Geown, Ms Holland, Mrs Coyle and Ms. Deery for all their effort in preparing for this event and to Mrs Cunningham who accompanied the singing on guitar. Thanks to all those who helped to decorate the hall for the occasion: Mrs Healy Ms O’ Reilly, Ms Mullen, Stephen, our Caretaker and four St Louis TY students who were with us on work experience that week. Thanks also to Mrs Karen Prunty and Mrs Carmel Duffy of the PA who helped our Family School Liaison Officer, David Mc Cague, to serve the refreshments on the night.
2nd Class Play
On Monday 18th December it was the turn of our two 2nd classes, who entertained their parents to a lively Christmas play entitled “Ralph the Reindeer.” The girls were very excited to perform for their families and did a marvellous job! Well done to Ms. Brady and Ms. Reilly for all their work in preparing the children.
Carol Service
St. Joseph’s Church was packed to capacity on Thursday night, 14th December, for a special Christmas Carol Service. Our 5th class choir joined with choirs from St. Louis Infant and St. Mary’s Boys’ Schools in a wonderful celebration of Christmas music which was very well-received by the congregation. We are grateful to Mrs Gallagher, Mrs McCarville and Mrs Deeney for preparing the children for this occasion, to the musicians who provided the accompaniment and to Fr. Stephen and Fr. Kevin for their assistance and their participation on the night.
3rd & 4th Class Christmas “Disney” Show
Earlier on the morning of the 14th December, our 3rd and 4th classes put on a Christmas show for their families. The girls sang a variety of hits from Disney movies, accompanied by movements and dance routines. Many thanks to Mrs Treanor, Mrs Cunningham and Ms McNally for showcasing such a terrific performance
Fundraising for St. Vincent de Paul
Thanks very much to all our parents for the huge selection of food items sent in for our annual St. Vincent De Paul Collection. Two 6th class girls, Lurissa and Kathy presented the food to representatives from The Society of St. Vincent de Paul on Thursday 21st December. Our 5th class choir also went out carol singing in Flemings that morning and raised €450 for St. Vincent de Paul. We are very grateful to those who came to listen and support them. Many thanks to Mrs Gallagher for organising both these charity events.
Two of our 4th Class pupils, Hazel and Cynthia, ran a hot chocolate stall for their classmates and raised a further €70 for this worthy cause. Well done to all!
Socks for the Homeless
Sincere thanks also to our parents for their generous response to the Socks for the Homeless Appeal run by the charity ”A lending hand, Monday Nights.” The sock box in the front hall was overflowing with a wonderful variety of colourful socks! This was a lovely way for the children to remember the homeless at Christmas time.
Monaghan Museum Christmas Show
We are very grateful to Monaghan Museum for the opportunity to take part in a variety of events during this school term. On Friday 15th December a number of our classes went to see a Christmas Magic Show. Thanks to Pauline Tilson for keeping us informed of all the upcoming events and to Mrs Treanor who organises them for our pupils.
