Sports Day 2017

Sports17-4Sports Day was held this year on Wednesday 31st May which luckily turned out to be a beautiful, sunny day. Expertly organised by Mrs Hannon and Ms. O'Reilly, the activities were arranged in a series of stations including a bouncy castle, disco, soccer skills, "Go Noodle" dance, basketball, hula-hooping, javelin throwing and of course the traditional long jump and sack/egg and spoon races. We are very grateful to John Crudden of the FAI who provided coaches to man the two soccer stations. The girls thoroughly enjoyed moving from station to station throughout the morning. During their lunch break, they were treated to ice lollies, then it was back outside again for tennis lessons, handball practice and some classes took to the Greenway for an afternoon stroll. Well done to Mrs Hannon and Ms O'Reilly and special thanks to the 6th class girls who helped run some of the stations: Amanda, Klara, Stephanie and Ivon

We are very grateful to our Parents' Association for funding this entertainment treat for the children.

Anti-Bullying Week 2017

Anti-Bullying Week was held from 2nd-5th May. Each class chose a particular item from the Action Team Partnership's list of activities. The children showcased these activities in a special assembly held on Thursday 4th  to which the ATP Adult Committee was invited. 2nd & 4th classes sang songs, the 3rd class led the whole school through a Mindfulness Meditation, 5th class displayed and explained their artwork and performed a rap, while 6th class entertained us with two dramas and showed us their lovely poster work. On Friday 5th we had a Yard Mix-Up Day, with the 6th classes going into the junior yard for lunch time and the thirds went into the senior yard. The staff members are very grateful to Family Home Liaison Officer, David Mc Cague, for facilitating Anti-Cyber Bullying Workshops in some of the classrooms during the week.

Reading Initiative with St. Louis Infants’ School

Buddy-1Our 6th classes have just completed a Paired Reading Initiative with the first classes in the Infant School. Every Tuesday morning, for 5 weeks, the 6th class girls went into the Infant classrooms to work with their "reading buddies." This has proven to be a very rewarding and enjoyable experience for our girls and we are assured that the First Classes just love it! Many thanks to Miss Louise Corr from the Infant School staff for inviting us to take part in this project.
