On Wednesday 24th June we held a cultural assembly. Girls from all the various countries were invited to showcase items which represent their own cultures. Some wore traditional costumes or articles of clothing, some brought in food, symbols or souvenirs of their own countries, whilst others recited poems or sang songs in their native languages. The event was narrated by Lara McCaughey, 5th class, and proved to be very popular with all the girls.
Cultural Day has become one of the highlights of our school year. It is an opportunity to celebrate the diverse cultural backgrounds of our pupils and is an enriching educational experience for the whole school community. Organised by our Language Teachers. Mrs. Hannon and Mrs. T McKenna, in conjunction with our School-Family Liasion Officer,David McCague, the day is filled with a variety of fun activities all aimed at raising cultural awareness among the girls.
In 2014 Cultural Day was held on June 6th. This year the activities included: Tae Kwon Do, creative dance, art & craft lessons, playground games and a drums workshop. The events were thoroughly enjoyed by all.
