Conradh na Gaeilge has very kindly donated a Perpetual Cup to the school in honour of Mrs Geraldine (Gearóidín)O’Boyle ,former Deputy Principal, who passed away last year. Gearóidín  had a great love for our Irish language and culture and she initiated the tradition of  the céilí in our school. The cup will be presented annually to the two 6th class pupils  who make the best effort at Gaeilge from September to March. At a special ceremony held on Friday last, 16th March, Pádraig Ó Baoighill, Gearóidín’s husband, presented the beautiful  cup for the first time to Ellie Connolly and Alanna McKenna as their proud mothers watched on. As well as members of Gearóidín’s family, the event was also attended by Fr. Stephen Duffy, former Principals and members of staff who worked with Gearóidín, a number of family friends and Feargal Mac Thréinfhir & Seán Ó Murchú from Conradh na Gaeilge. In a fitting tribute to Gearóidín, the children performed some of their céilí items for the invited guests.

Ba mhaith linn buíochas a ghábháil le Conradh na Gaeilge as ucht an buanchorn galánta seo a bhronnadh ar an scoil. Cabhróidh sé linn chun Gearóidín a chóiméad inár gcuimhne go deo.
